About our Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the QHSE Manager, this role involves actively providing Health, Safety & Environmental support to a new Pilot plant in our St Helens centre of excellence, leading in glass manufacturing research. This post plays a pivotal role in developing and embedding a world class safety culture at site.

This role would suit someone who is looking to make real impacts in their role, and is excited by putting their own stamp on health and safety.

Core Responsibilities:

- The key point of contact at St Helens R&D facility for operational H&S issues
- Implement and maintain H&S policy and best practice, in line with relevant legislation, standards and company requirements
- Run employee and contractor H&S inductions including site safety inductions
- Support during St Helens plant fit out with CDM and permitting duties
- Checking Permit to Works systems, Lock Out Tag Out systems, Risk Assessments and Method Statements are properly written, coordinated and implemented
- Support the QHSE Manager and Site Operations Manager in the management of the H&S and relevant Environmental functions
- Work closely with responsible Managers, and other key colleagues to establish and maintain key H&S improvements within their areas of responsibility
- Working with QHSE Manager on core HSE processes, e.g. internal auditing, KPI provision and analysis, policy and process updates, improvements, HSE communications and events
- Collaborating with Line Managers and the wider team as part of the projects as and when required to aid delivery projects

Person Specification:

- Experience of providing health and safety advice within a manufacturing environment, preferably Glass
- CMIOSH/GradIOSH with relevant experience (essential)
- ISO45001 experience or other ISO auditing experience
- Experience of providing comprehensive Occupational Health & Safety generalist advise and support to Managers
- Experience of working in a great safety focused culture
- Operational audit experience
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Ability to influence and motivate others both in the Operational teams and within the wider organisation
- Good analytical problem-solving skills and able to identify the crux of complex issues and action the appropriate response or resolution
- Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
- Demonstrable evidence of having researched and resolved issues and contributed to HSE policies and/or procedural reviews
- Confident delivering training and a willingness to train to deliver IOSH courses
- Environmental management experience advantageous

**Salary**:
£45-£50k per annum depending in experience

Working Hours:
Full time, Monday to Friday

**Location**:
Mainly based at our Centre of Excellence site in St Helens with some flexibility to work hybrid depending on business needs. This role may involve occasional travel to other sites in the UK or abroad.

Holidays:
25 days holiday plus bank holidays (FTE), pro rata may apply. Plus, additional service days.
