Character Concept Lead - 14210

Skillsearch has an exciting opportunity for a talented Character Concept Lead (Realism) to join our client's vibrant and inclusive team. This full-time Lead Artist role is based in Gateshead in the United Kingdom and offers an attractive salary and benefits.

As a skilled Character Concept Lead, you will be responsible for guiding your teams to create concepts per the requirements of each project/client. The role involves creating artwork and design at all stages of the development cycle, including concept and idea generation, fast sketching (including storyboards), colour/light studies and polished illustration work, and providing team management and feedback. Please note that this position involves approximately 50% art creation and 50% management.

In your first few weeks in this Character Concept Lead role, you can expect to:

- Direct multiple teams to deliver work for a variety of projects in various styles to different levels of finish and time constraints
- Be responsible for effectively briefing teams on new and existing work
- Ensure that the work captivates the viewer’s imagination with effective storytelling
- Set schedules and break down workflows for new projects alongside production
- Give regular feedback to teams with the ability to inspire those around you

To succeed in this Lead Artist job, you must be able to work quickly and should consistently deliver innovative/high-quality ideas and polished final art/designs. You should also have prior experience working directly with clients and be comfortable discussing projects with members of the production and senior management teams. In addition, you should have fluency in Photoshop and an understanding of complementary software and tools. Experience using 3D software such as Core, Mudbox, Blender, 3DsMax, Z-Brush and Maya is also essential.
