Edinburgh, United Kingdom Korn Ferry International Full time

**Appointments to the University Court, the Governing Body of the University of Edinburgh**

This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved in the governance of one of the best universities in the world. At the University of Edinburgh, we’ve been making a positive impact for more than 400 years. Every year we take on tomorrow’s greatest challenges. Each year is different - every person, teacher, project, and every thought is more exciting than the last. Whatever excites you, whatever your ambition, whatever makes you ‘you’, we know one thing:
** nothing ordinary comes from this extraordinary place.**

The University of Edinburgh employs over 15,000 people and has a budget in excess of £1.2 billion. We are looking to appoint two individuals to the University Court. These positions are equivalent to non-executive directors, and as such they contribute at the highest levels of the University, using their professional expertise and experience to support, question, and advise the Executive on key strategic matters. The broader engagement of Court members in the rich and varied life of the University is welcomed.

An institution as large, complex and successful as ours needs Court Members who can make a positive impact on the university’s most challenging strategic issues. We are looking for senior leaders with experience of working in or with organisations of comparable scale and complexity, in any sector. Applications are particularly welcomed from people with skills and experience suitable for the University’s Audit & Risk Committee, such as
**finance, accounting, auditing, risk management, law or information technology**, as well as for the governing body more generally.

**Practicalities**

The University Court meets five times a year. Members of Court often serve on at least one Committee and there is currently a demand in the Audit & Risk Committee. Members may also serve on working groups considering specific strategic matters. While the positions are unremunerated, the University will meet all reasonable costs associated with membership of Court and other activities on behalf of the University including child and other dependent care costs. Appointments are typically for four years in the first instance with the possibility of extension for a further four years by mutual agreement.

**Closing Date**: Monday 13th March 2023

**Interview Date**: Monday 24th April 2023
