We are assisting in the recruitment of a Payroll Team Leader to be responsible for line managing a team of ILS Payroll Administrators ensuring the team have the guidance, support, and direction to undertake all payroll processing activities accurately, efficiently, and within key performance metrics, motivating and leading their team to hit their goals and drive the success of the ILS department.

The Payroll Team Leader will be a role model and will also be responsible for all people management responsibilities within their teams including, but not limited to, holiday requests and resource planning; recording of sickness absence and ensuring internal policies are adhered to with any actions taken where appropriate; completing Great Conversations and managing the individual’s performance and development opportunities; training team members and providing guidance.

The Payroll Team Leader will also have responsibility for key KPI and performance metrics reporting to the ILS Payroll Manager and will work closely with the ILS Managed Accounts team and Operational ILS teams building strong and positive working relationships, identifying, and implementing improvements.

**Key Responsibilities include;**
- Line Managing a team of ILS Payroll Administrators ensuring the daily tasks are clearly communicated with the team enabling them to effectively process all requirements of a Payroll function (Payroll, HMRC and Pensions) accurately, efficiently, and within key performance metrics.
- Managing the performance of the team whether that be on a team or individual basis against key KPI’s ensuring internal policies are followed where appropriate.
- Monitoring people metrics including absence and turnover and taking appropriate action where necessary.
- Conducting bi-annual Great Conversations ensuring development plans are implemented where required.
- Observes colleagues and provides constructive feedback.
- Manages attendance including return to work interviews and the maintenance of leave and sickness records.
- Effectively managing staff allocations and other resources to ensure internal and external key performance metrics are met or exceeded.
- Take responsibility for the quality of work the ILS Payroll Administrators are processing ensuring the sampling strategy is robust to ensure accuracy.
- Ensure that customer payments are processed with extremely high level of accuracy and to report back to ILS Payroll Manager/Management any issues identified.
- Supporting and taking ownership with Payroll Queries and Complaints.
- Works closely with HR on employee relation issues, incl. Disciplinary and Grievance management
- Play an active role in progress meetings with the operations team, proactively responding to feedback, seeking, and implementing improvements.
- Provide feedback to staff and leaders on team performance, what is working well and areas of concern.
- Seek to reduce and remove process and performance blockers and inhibitors.
- Provide training, guidance and best practice to team members and other colleagues.
- Ensure internal and external governance procedures and expectations are followed, and proactively highlight where there are concerns.
- Ensure individual and team key performance metrics are clearly recorded, understood, agreed, and measured.
- Display trademarks and leadership behaviours and act as a role model for others
- Embed internal expectations, including Great Conversations process.
