**Overview**:
**We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and experienced individual to join our Integrated Special Educational Needs hubs working across Buckinghamshire to provide expert advice and support to schools and setting to support the early identification and intervention for children with Special Educational Needs.**

**This is a new role that will be accountable to the Head of Integrated SEND as part of the Early Intervention initiative and will report into the ISEND Area Team Manager based in Aylesbury. They will visit schools across the area covered.**

**This is a part time role for 18 hours per week and is fixed term/secondment until July 2024.**

**About the role**:
As one of our three SEND Inclusion Advisors you will be working with schools and settings to focus on the transition point at early years / reception and the transition to secondary education providing schools with support to identify special needs in children as they start school and effectively meet the needs of children in need of SEN Support across Years 5, 6 and 7.

The Inclusion Advisors will be key in promoting SENCO support groups for sharing of good practice and peer support and Foster a ‘Whole School SEND’ approach in schools, identifying strengths and areas for development addressing issues through robust action planning and impact review.

You will be promoting the ‘Every Leader is a Leader of SEND’ agenda, working with all leaders, including governors, across schools to effect change.

**The Inclusion Advisor will collate data from audits and using it to**:

- identify and encourage sharing of effective practice
- identify common areas where improvement is needed
- running and/or brokering training and support packages for teachers, SENDCos and support staff
- identify and trigger support for schools where there may be concerns

**About you**:
**The successful applicant will need to demonstrate**:

- Management of the delivery of the Whole School SEND Review tools to assess, implement and review whole school approaches to SEND
- Specific knowledge in relation to transition from one setting to another (e.g. nursery to primary school / primary to secondary school)
- Sound knowledge of evidence-based approaches to supporting school-age children with SEND. This includes, but is not exclusive to, specific knowledge relating to autism and social, emotional and mental health needs and how schools can best approach supporting children with these needs
- Experience of developing procedures and policies and contributing to strategy development
- Excellent interpersonal, persuasive and negotiating skills
- Authority and credibility to build relationships influence and engage successfully with colleagues, partners and customers at all levels in complex or politically sensitive situations
- Initiative, strategic and political awareness demonstrated in problem solving and decision making
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, to manage a range of complex activities and to achieve given targets and objectives
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Post graduate qualification, i.e. QTS / PGCE or similar / MA / MSc

The post holder will be required to make regular visits to schools and settings across Buckinghamshire.
