Audiology Support Worker

To assist the Audiologists to carry out Audiological Assessments for children from 0 to 19 years including children with additional needs at 4 clinic locations across Bedfordshire.
Working in the community across four sites in the Bedfordshire area, supporting audiologists with the Audiological assessment of children’s hearing, aged from 0 to 19 years, including children with additional needs.
Assist with set up and daily calibration/checks of Audiology equipment.
To assist in the management of children during assessment, including engaging children’s attention appropriately, to allow for effective behavioural hearing assessment in line with local guidelines. To contribute to the provision of a family friendly service.
Take on specific areas of responsibility within the service to contribute to the overall service delivery as directed by manager or senior staff.

Planning
To assist Audiologist and audiology service administrators in other non-clinical duties in a variety of community settings.
Communication
Communicate with Children & Parents, in a manner which is clear, and contributes to the ethos of a family friendly service.
To use alternative Communication strategies with Children who have additional needs, or who use different languages.
To inform and liaise with the Line Manager and Service Manager on all aspects of hearing assessment related to your role.
To establish a working rapport with other team members and contribute to Team meetings.
To recognise the importance of personal contribution to the team and the wider professional network.
Budgetary Responsibility
There is no responsibility for budgets within this role.
Research & Development Activity
To participate in audit of the screening service within the Trust and annually as part of the Audiology audit and other audiology related audit being undertaken by the department under the guidance of qualified staff.
People Management
Maintaining own professional development and requirement to take part in appraisal and KSF process.
Clinical and Practice Governance
Observe and maintain strict confidentiality with regards to any patient/family/staff/records and information in line with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.
Any data that is taken/shared as part of a phone call or transported, faxed or transferred electronically must be undertaken with regard to the Trust Information Governance and Information Security policies.
The post holder must adhere to the Trust risk assessment and risk management processes.
The post holder must adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
Undertake mandatory training and any other training relevant to the role as required by Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust.
The post holder must participate in clinical and safeguarding audits as required.
The post holder is required to participate in relevant emergency preparedness process for their team.
