**Travelling to Peckham office is a requirement for this role, but may be able to work from home part of the week**
- Convene and/or administer Child Protection Conferences (under Government Guidance), including advising the chair on administrative procedures. To produce accurate decisions and summary minutes of a complex nature and to schedule subsequent meetings. To ensure that all work is completed in line with agreed priority deadlines and standards of accuracy and presentation.
- Respond to written and verbal enquiries on child protection issues, in the absence of social work professional staff making an assessment of urgency and action required. To refer on as appropriate. To respond to such enquiries sensitively and efficiently, either orally or in writing, this involves the completion of original/non-standard correspondence.
- Understand and operate Departmental policies and procedures, requirements of the law, Government Guidance, and individual circumstances and collate relevant information for the Quality Assurance Unit. To have or be able to develop a specialist Child Protection knowledge in order to draft relevant conference summaries, which prioritise key risk factors, for a multi-disciplinary audience as part of Child Protection Plans.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all records produced and received and be aware of requirements of the Data Protection Act, 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation. To contribute to a healthy and safe working environment reporting faults to equipment and hazards in and around the work station.
- Operate electronic processing systems, maintaining and storing information appropriately, designing and using standard formats, layouts etc. preparation of standard and original letters, reports, forms, charts and diagrams. To input to databases, create spread sheets and use electronic mail and equipment to maintain records and web based systems.
- Collect and collate statistical reports, weekly, monthly and quarterly on outcomes and activities of Conferences. To research information and collate statistical details in relation to Child Protection, including accessing relevant website information through searches, as required.
- Provide administrative support to senior officers of the service, including arranging meetings, record keeping, taking messages, drafting correspondence and reports. To liaise with officers of other services and external organisations, assessing, resolving problems, informing and advising on the role and function of the Unit, systems and procedures.

**Experience**:

- Administrative experience in a highly pressured, busy, multi tasking working environment, ideally in similar setting/Local Authority is required for this role. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context.
- Multi-agency minuting experience is essential for this role.
- Extensive clerical and/or administrative experience with a wide range of admin procedures and systems: compiling and maintaining records and administrative systems; interpreting written information and advising accordingly; collating statistical/financial information.
- Experience of producing a range of written material, including correspondence and reports.
- Experience in administration of meetings including taking accurate notes and producing summary records.
- Child Protection or other Children's Social Care knowledge would be an advantage.

**Knowledge**:

- Knowledge of a wide range of admin procedures and systems and be able to input and manage data and understanding of how to prioritise a demanding workload.
- Understanding of the principles of and need for confidentiality including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
- Understanding of the principles of customer care and health and safety issues that may come up in the work place.

**Skills**:

- Able to minute meetings covering complex material, having the ability to select and reproduce the appropriate information.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally face to face, on the telephone and in writing with a wide range of people.
- Able to work on own initiative and meet deadlines, targets and defined standards, relevant legislation and departmental policies.
- Interpersonal skills in order to deal appropriately with a range of people in a variety of settings (e.g. meetings and interviews).
- Ability to work effectively as a team member to achieve the overall objectives of the Service.
- Word Process at a minimum of 50 words per minute.
