The Matron will be a highly visible, accessible, and authoritative presence across the perioperative pathway, to which patients, their families and others can turn for leadership, assistance, advice, and support. The postholder will be part of the Divisional Nursing Leadership team with specific responsibility for areas across the perioperative pathway.

**Matron’s role will focus on**:

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Clinical Practice
- Provide visible leadership to ensure the delivery of a high standard of clinical care using expert knowledge, judgement, and decision-making
- Use expert clinical skills as a resource for staff in the full range of nursing/operating department practitioner skills
- Ensure self and staff work within the NMC Code of
- Ensure all prescribed medications are administered and stored in accordance with local protocols and the NMC Guidelines for the Administration of
- Observe, monitor and act on any situations, e.g. the physical environment or assets that may be detrimental to the health and well-being of the patients, visitors and staff. Ensure that strategies are in place to correct or optimise the surroundings and availability of resources
