**Job description**:
Join us as a Senior Design Research Consultant
- Are you ready to play a pivotal role designing the next generation of digital banking experiences?
- Joining an open and collaborative environment, you’ll be researching product-related human-centred design challenges and exploring novel solutions for them
- You’ll be making a real difference to millions of people, families and businesses across the UK, from help budgeting and saving to support making sustainable choices

**What you'll do**:
As a Senior Design Research Consultant in our Human Centred Design (HCD) team, you’ll be at the forefront of driving innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate the needs of our Personal Banking customer with our strategic goals.

Day to day, you’ll be:

- ** Collaborating** with multi-disciplinary teams to understand the problems we’re trying to solve and explore the best solutions to them
- ** Leading** research activities and developing a strong evidence base to inform, challenge and validate solutions
- ** Providing** human centred design recommendations grounded in research, insights, or the principles of psychology
- ** Supporting** junior members of your team to grow their skills and achieve their potential through regular coaching and feedback
- ** Leveraging** multiple research techniques to provide multiple sources for understanding and empathising with customer and user needs
- ** Balancing** rigour and speed throughout the research process and using your judgement to determine how much research is “just enough”

**The skills you'll need**:
Unlike other research roles, you’ll be contributing to the whole process design lifecycle, so you’ll need a broad skillset, a growth mindset, and a passion for learning and experimentation to truly thrive in this role.

You’ll also need:

- Experience leading research or design in a complex, commercial environment
- Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in design thinking, user experience design, and research methods
- Experience conducting mixed-method research using qualitative and quantitative data
- Experience supporting HCD processes for mobile and desktop experiences

And you’ll demonstrate:

- ** A pragmatic approach**, with the ability to judge how much research is ‘just enough’
- ** Great interpersonal skills**, with the ability to nurture relationships, build a rapport, and rouse empathy with colleagues and stakeholders
- ** Stakeholder management skills**, and the ability to understand, influence and shape their objectives and priorities
- ** Collaboration skills**, paired with experience of collaborating with other disciplines and working in a multi-disciplinary team
- ** Critical thinking skills**, with the ability to cut through complexity and navigate ambiguity, bringing clarity, structure and direction
- ** Communication** skills and the ability to engage others through storytelling
