Merton Uplift is a new and exciting primary care mental health service, which incorporates a the Merton Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service, a Wellbeing service and a Primary Care Recovery and Support Service.

Due to members of the step 2 team moving onto further clinical training and senior PWP positions in addition to the recent expansion of our service we are seeking to recruit Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners. It is a requirement for applicants to have attended PWP IAPT training and to have achieved, or be working towards completion of the PG Certificate in low intensity CBT interventions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner to join our committed and hard working team of clinicians in Merton IAPT on a permanent basis. You will be providing high volume low intensity interventions, which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.

Merton IAPT offers evidence based psychological interventions including CBT, IPT, DIT, EMDR and BCT to its residents. The service is professionally led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Merton Uplift Service Manager.

The clinical team includes qualified Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and CBT Therapists, IAPT High Intensity Trainees, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, all of whom provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

The post holder will work clinically within the IAPT service which delivers a range of evidence-based psychological interventions to people with common mental health problems (i.e., depression, anxiety disorders and eating disorders) within a stepped-care model.

Merton IAPT is professionally managed by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and operationally managed by the Merton Uplift Service Manager. The IAPT team includes Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, IAPT High Intensity Practitioners, and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, who provide evidence-based psychological interventions in line with NICE guidance.

Applicants must have achieved or be working towards completion of the IAPT PWP training and qualification of post graduate diploma in low intensity CBT interventions

You will receive regular clinical supervision from a Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT Therapist working within the service and have the opportunity to attend regular in-house training sessions and clinical skills groups. There are several opportunities to be involved in specialist pathways of care within the service, including LTCs, perinatal and learning disabilities.

You will work clinically within primary care settings and be required to work flexible hours in line with the ‘Improving Access’ agenda. The service operates from 8am to 7pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-5pm on Fridays. The postholder will be required to work at least one evening per week or early shift per week.

Flexible working hours can be negotiated and many of our clinicians prefer to work condensed hours to allow for a better work/life balance.
