Our client is a main contracting construction company, providing a comprehensive range of services including Industrial/Logistics, Commercial Offices, Residential, Refurbishment, Sports and Leisure, and Education projects.

We are recruiting a Design Manager on their behalf, working on their portfolio of industrial/distribution/logistics projects.

Job Description

Tasked with overseeing and delivering design information as per the agreed schedule, spanning both pre-construction and construction phases of projects. Responsibilities include developing design programs, scopes, and matrices, managing appointments, tracking progress, participating in meetings, and ensuring compliance with regulations and technical standards.

Responsibilities

* Manage contract specifications, drawings, and associated documents.

* Handle Requests For Information (RFIs) from initiation to resolution.

* Lead design team meetings and collaborate with consultants and subcontract designers.

* Provide design updates to the client team.

* Ensure projects meet BREEAM sustainability standards where necessary.

* Coordinate information submissions to fulfill planning conditions.

* Conduct design review workshops to clarify technical submissions.

* Perform technical reviews of proposed works.

* Coordinate submissions for Building Control compliance.

* Manage the design process and information release schedules.

* Contribute to procurement processes through design input and review.

* Assist in compiling O&M Health and Safety files.

* Offer design and technical support to project management teams.

* Identify and advise on value engineering opportunities.

* Adhere to company quality, environmental, and safety standards.

* Foster strong relationships with external parties and promote internal teamwork.

* Ensure department operations align with company health and safety policies.

* Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation measures.

* Support team development through guidance, feedback, and training opportunities.

* Undertake any additional duties relevant to the Design Manager role.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field.

* Extensive experience in engineering or architecture.

* Previous experience managing design teams.

* Familiarity with company policies and health and safety regulations.

* Proficiency in project planning, management, and budgeting.

* Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

* Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
