An excellent SEN Secondary School in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN/SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team. The role involves working with children aged 11-19 with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties, and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for their students. The dedicated team of educators focuses on nurturing the unique abilities of each child, promoting positive behaviour, and ensuring they reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time temporary position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

For this SEN/SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

Provide 1:1 support to students and work in small groups.
Effectively support children with ASD, ADHD, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties, and SEMH needs.
Utilize positive reinforcement strategies to encourage desired behaviours.
Calmly deescalate challenging behaviour and implement behaviour management techniques.
Build and maintain strong rapport with students.
Collaborate with teaching staff and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
Contribute to the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
The requirements for this role are that you will have:

Ability to positively support and deescalate challenging behaviour.
Great sense of humour and the ability to engage and connect with students.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Recent experience with Price or Team Teach techniques (desirable).
Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
