We have an exciting new role become available for an experienced Head of Accounts to join our client Thames Valley Police on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

This will be a hybrid role working out of their headquarters in Kidlington working 3 days a week from home and 2 days in the office.

The core working hours will be between 8am and 5pm.

Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a temporary Head of Accounts in Corporate Finance. The Accounts team is in the initial stages of a formal review to transform the team, improving efficiency, effectiveness and productivity. One of your key responsibilities will be to deliver the change in a timely manner working with internal and external teams to transform the Accounts function.

As a Member of the Finance Senior Management Team you will be responsible for developing and delivering the financial strategy for the Force. Responsibilities include supporting the Director of Finance in delivering Financial Management and Business Partnering services to the Force and its strategic partners including statutory reporting, Management Accounting, strategic financial planning, investment appraisal and commercial analysis. This will involve working closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the forces objectives within agreed resources.

The successful candidate will rapidly engage with the team as the first step to delivering the transformation alongside maintaining BAU. They will need to lead and manage the Accounts team, developing a strong team culture across the Corporate Finance Team and the Finance Business Partners. Ensuring the team is appropriately resourced, informed, motivated and trained to make the required changes, to deliver the departments and Forces objectives.

They are looking for candidates with the following skill set

CCAB Qualified accountant with significant experience at senior level in complex organisations.
In depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practice.
Demonstrated experience of managing own and teams workload and to make informed independent decisions to tight deadlines.
Proven and extensive managerial experience, to provide professional advice and support to Senior Management teams, including the Director of Finance as a member of the department's management team.
Experience of motivating and leading large finance teams through periods of change.
Experience of working with / partnering teams outside of core finance, preferably including to leadership level.
Strong commercial and analytical skills - with ability to analyse complex information and assess options and draw appropriate advice.
Excellent communication and influencing skills at all levels with ability to prepare and produce concise yet insightful communications for a broad range of senior stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience to plan over short, medium and long term timeframes and adjust plans and resources as required.
