The Project

As an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role as part of the Commercial team on a £20m new build project in North Yorkshire. You will oversee financial aspects; ensuring strict compliance with contract terms and maintaining the project's budgetary constraints while contributing to its overall successful and seamless completion.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following skills as a minimum;

Experience delivering commercial packages on new build/ refurbishment education projects is advantageous but not essential
Proven history of working on new build/refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £10m
Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a Senior Quantity Surveyor position or similar for a leading contractor or subcontractorThe Role

Procurement
Analysis of tender allowances
Reporting regularly to Project Manager
Compiling material reconciliation reports
Settle and finalise accounts with contractors
Analyse the cost-effectiveness of multiple design choices
Evaluate and compare bids from contractors and suppliers
Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors and other team members
Implement effective and reliable cost control methods and strategies
Review and authorise progress payments to contractors and suppliers
Manage cash flow and deliver regular financial reports to stakeholders
Facilitate negotiations and resolve conflicts to achieve a satisfactory outcome
Engage in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge
Set up systems for cost reporting to efficiently track and control project expenses
Enforce compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices
Conduct detailed cost analyses and thorough feasibility studies for proposed projects
Manage and oversee project expenditures, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints
Maintain up to date, precise records of all financial transactions and project documentation
Participate in project meetings, providing expert advice and direction on cost-related issues
Work closely with project stakeholders such as clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
Supervise the financial effects of design modifications and negotiate any necessary revisions
Develop cost plans and forecasts, ensuring effective budget management throughout the project lifecycle
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and budgets for the project and integrate them into the planning phase
Track cost and financial risks associated with the project and implement strategies to address and mitigate potential issues
Negotiate and finalise contract terms with contractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project specifications and budgetary constraints
Ensure strict compliance with all contract terms, conditions, and specifications throughout the project lifecycle, while aligning with project objectives and client expectations
Guarantee that all financial aspects are resolved and finalized, with meticulous documentation maintained for a complete and thorough project closure
