About the school:

Join our outstanding school in the London Borough of Hackney, where we are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We cater to learners aged 4-19 with highly specialised provisions, placing each child’s individual needs and goals at the heart of our work. Our bespoke, child-centered curriculum is designed to foster communication, learning, and independence in a safe and inclusive environment. We provide tailored support for students with SEN and SEMH needs, ensuring they have the resources and guidance necessary for success. Our specialist workforce benefits from continual staff development, equipping you with the skills to excel in your role.

About the role:

In this role, you will work closely with students in Key stages 1 and 2, providing personalised assistance through 1:1 and small group support to meet their unique needs. You will join a collaborative team of passionate educators and support staff dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our students. Benefit from mentorship and support from the headteacher, with opportunities for professional growth and development in the field of SEN and SEMH education.

Application Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children with SEN and SEMH needs is highly desirable.

• Relevant qualifications in education or special educational needs are preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

• A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs and a commitment to their well-being and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide targeted support to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their personal goals.

• Implement effective strategies to manage and support positive behavior in students with SEMH needs.

• Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

• Track and report on student progress, adapting support strategies as needed to ensure continuous development.
