Apple Recruitment are recruiting for a Research Officer within Social Justice and Equalities on behalf of the NI Assembly.

This post covers the policy areas of Social Justice and Equalities. This includes research related to age, disability, race, and gender equality as well as poverty and social mobility.

Main duties include:

* Scope research requirements with individual MLAs, Assembly Committees, and the senior secretariat.

* Retrieve and synthesise information from a wide range of sources, including on-line databases;

* Deliver high quality and impartial research and analysis on social justice issues that is timely and accurate.

* Produce research outputs including research papers, legislative analysis briefings, and blog posts.

* Present research briefings to committees in public session

* Facilitate public events, such as those which form part of the KESS seminar series;

* Develop links across government and external research communities. This includes other parliamentary library and research services.

* Work collaboratively and collegially, as an effective team member.

* Contribute to the development of RaISe, including improving service delivery

* Carry out such other duties, as may be required, which fall within the research business of the RaISe; and

* Comply with the Assembly’s Equal Opportunities and Dignity at Work policies and procedures.

Applicants must, by the closing date:

Applicants must meet the qualification and experience requirements set out below:

(i) At least an upper second-class (2:1) honours degree (or equivalent). Candidates must have gained an understanding of the development and analysis of public policy or law making;

and

At least two years’ post degree (or equivalent) work experience of;

1. conducting objective, evidence-based research on social justice/equality issues. This includes the collation, validation, and visualisation of a wide range of data (qualitative and quantitative), on social justice/equality issues;

2. producing and delivering research briefings on social justice/equality issues to decision makers.

Desirable:

a) A post-graduate degree (or equivalent) (Masters or higher gained via examination or research) through which candidates have gained an understanding of the development and analysis of law or policy relating to social justice issues.

b) At least two years’ post degree (or equivalent) work experience of conducting objective, evidence-based research, requiring the collation, validation, and visualisation of a wide range of data (qualitative and quantitative), in any two of the following areas: equality; poverty; social mobility; and outcomes-based accountability.

Further Details:

* Hourly Rate based on £50,684 per annum

* Up to 2 months with possibility of extension
