Requirements:

Previous Caretaker Experience: We're seeking candidates with a proven track record in caretaking roles, ideally within educational settings. Your experience will be invaluable in ensuring the smooth operation of our school facilities.

Strong Work Ethic: You should be reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe and clean environment for our students and staff.

Maintenance Skills: Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair tasks such as plumbing, electrical, and general upkeep is essential.

Attention to Detail: You'll be responsible for the cleanliness and organisation of our school premises, so meticulous attention to detail is crucial.

Excellent Communication: Clear and effective communication is necessary when interacting with staff, students, and external contractors.

Positive Attitude: A positive and proactive attitude in addressing issues and solving problems is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

As a Caretaker at our Secondary School in Lewisham, you will have a diverse range of responsibilities to ensure the school runs smoothly and safely. Your tasks will include:

Security: Maintaining the security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking buildings, responding to alarms, and ensuring all entry points are secure.

Maintenance: Conducting routine checks and minor repairs for various facilities and equipment, such as heating systems, plumbing, lighting, and fixtures.

Cleaning: Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met in classrooms, corridors, restrooms, and communal areas.

Health and Safety: Implementing health and safety protocols, including fire drills and emergency procedures, and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.

Grounds keeping: Basic grounds maintenance, including litter picking, gardening, and snow clearing as needed.

Supervision: Overseeing and coordinating external contractors for larger maintenance projects when necessary.

Inventory Management: Keeping an inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance equipment, and ordering replacements as needed.

Team Collaboration: Collaborating with school staff and management to address maintenance and safety concerns promptly.
