Job Summary:

The Maintenance Improvement Technician will be responsible for maintaining and improving machinery and equipment in the factory. The ideal candidate will possess strong bench fitting skills, practical hand skills, and an eye for detail. This role requires an individual who is capable of working independently, willing to explore innovative solutions, and eager to participate in process and procedure enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
Utilize practical hand skills, including the use of files, drills, taps, and saws, for various maintenance tasks.
Demonstrate proficiency in bench fitting skills, including assembly, adjustment, and alignment of components.
Operate and maintain lathes and milling machines (non-CNC) for fabrication and repair purposes.
Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify issues and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with the team to propose and implement improvements to processes and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols in all maintenance activities.
Provide training and guidance to other team members as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:

Experience: Previous experience working in factory conditions, with a solid background in maintenance and repair work.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in using hand tools, such as files, drills, taps, and saws. Experience with lathes and milling machines is highly desirable.
Attention to Detail: Strong eye for detail, capable of identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
Problem-Solving: Willingness to try new approaches and take calculated risks to improve processes and procedures.
Independence: Ability to work autonomously as the sole fitter-type technician on site, managing tasks and priorities effectively.
Communication: Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and collaborating with the team.
Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant technical certification or training in maintenance or mechanical engineering.
Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing industry.
Working Conditions:

Primarily factory-based, with occasional requirements for physical labor and manual handling.
May involve working in varying temperatures and noise levels, depending on the machinery and equipment used.
Standard working hours, with potential for overtime as needed.
Monday – Thursday 8am to 5pm and an early finish on a Friday 12pm
