They are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Newcastle. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with a robust background in electrical design and building services engineering, eager to lead complex projects and mentor a talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Managing Director (Electrical), developing and learning new skills with the sole aim of taking over the Electrical Director role.
Lead electrical design and delivery of building services projects from conception to completion, ensuring high technical standards and innovation.
Develop detailed electrical engineering designs, including schematics, layouts, and specifications using industry-standard software.
Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, and site surveys to inform design decisions.
Manage and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and cohesive project delivery.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior engineers and other team members.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and tender documents.
Engage with clients to understand their requirements, provide expert advice, and ensure client satisfaction.
Participate in business development activities, including preparing proposals and presenting to potential clients.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulations to ensure cutting-edge solutions.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Attributes:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., IET, CIBSE).
Extensive experience as a Principal Electrical Design Engineer within the building services sector.
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other electrical design tools.
In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects as a Principal Electrical Design Engineer.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, essential for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Full driving license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
