RM Recruit have partnered up with a Birmingham based third sector client who are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their dynamic finance team on a full-time, 3–6-month contract basis. This role is 100% office-based Monday-Friday with a competitive salary. The ideal candidate will be immediately available or available on short notice.

* Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.

* Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.

* Perform bank reconciliations and manage balance sheet reconciliations.

* Process invoices, payments, and journals accurately and in a timely manner.

* Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

* Provide support during internal and external audits.

* Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies.

* Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of financial systems.

* Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

The ideal candidate will be part-qualified in CIMA/ACCA or have equivalent experience, with a solid background in a similar accounting role. They should possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes, coupled with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail are essential, along with strong communication and interpersonal abilities. The ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure, combined with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement, is key to success in this role. The successful candidate will be subject to a DBS check upon appointment.
