A Health & Safety and Environmental Manager (HSE) is sought by a busy West Midlands Engineering company

Reporting to the Managing Director, this role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for employees and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and minimise workplace hazards.

You will drive the ongoing improvement of health, safety and environmental standards, not forgetting remote workers and will be responsible for conducting regular health and safety and environmental audits with continuous improvement in mind.

Key Responsibilities will include: -

* Providing guidance to the key stakeholders on all topics related to HSE compliance
* Responsible for the management of ISO45001 and ISO14001 standards
* Set up, review and manage the Health and Safety Management Systems, including Emergency, First Aid, Contractors on site, KPI, Traffic management and Lone working
* Review and manage the Environmental Management Systems, including waste management, relevant policies, procedures and training
* Collate, review, update and manage risk assessments and CoSHH assessments, supporting these activities with a hands on approach.
* Work with leaders to identify HSE priorities and programmes for the area managed, including performance metrics, communication and change management
* Providing ongoing training on health, safety and environmental requirements onsite
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety and environmental considerations are integrated into planning and decision-making processes
* Facilitating accident / incident reports and conducting investigations where appropriate
* Provide assistance to management in the investigation of occupational ill health
* Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts, including developing evacuation plans and coordinating drills

To make this your next role you will need some of the following skills and competencies: -

* Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental management systems
* NEBOSH Diploma of equivalent qualification (General Certificate)
* IOSH Managing Safely
* Excellent working knowledge of ISO14001 & ISO45001
* Have the ability to understand the latest needs of customers, regulatory and industry bodies
* Able to effectively train others on relevant topics
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety solutions
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
* Strong leadership skills, ability to engage others effectively and drive change across all levels
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively
* Pragmatic and practical; can develop process and standards
