BEMS Project Engineer

Purpose of role:

To manage, design and engineer a number of concurrent projects, ensuring delivery of all projects in time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

Personal

Comply with all internal processes & procedures. e.g. H&S, Project reporting, Job Log, Invoicing Timesheets, Expenses.

Keep up to date with general market and technical developments, highlighting new products/services that may be beneficial to the company and/or its customers.

Business Development

Maintain frequent contact with clients to build and maintain relationships at all levels.

Identify opportunities for additional services with existing customers, ensuring our clients are aware of all services and solutions we can offer.

Identify opportunities for post completion support contracts and pass to the BD Team.

Engineering

* Produce and submit technical submittal including description of operation, schedules, selection of equipment to meet project specification, internal standards, project quotation, customer approval and maximise margin.

* Develop and agree project plans with customers & colleagues to ensure timely and efficient delivery.

* Plan resource requirements and identify shortfalls at the earliest opportunity

* Day to day co-ordination of resources (Applications Engineers, Commissioning Engineers, Sub-Contractors, etc)

* Gather and distribute technical information to project team and customers to ensure all engineering can be completed on time and efficiently

* Fully document project and file accordingly for post project reviews.

* Manage and document RFIs and variations.

* Attend customer meetings as necessary.

* Manage version control, storage and distribution of all project documentation. Ensure client handover is fully documented and signed off.

* Co-ordinate ordering and delivery to minimise financial exposure and maximize cash flow. Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best prices. Make use of internal stock and reduce overall stock held to a minimum.

* Co-ordination and communication of project Health and Safety. Preparation and review of H&S documentation. Review and approval of sub-contractor H&S documentation.

* Provide regular reporting of project progress to Line Manager.

* Assist with detailed post completion review of projects.

* Manage, log and rectify defects during defect liability/warranty periods.

* Review current processes and improve or implement new processes to improve quality, efficiency and profitability

* Identify and communicate enhancements and improvements to technical standards

Commercial

* P&L responsibility for assigned projects.

* Ensure interim and final invoices are raised in accordance with commercial terms. Responsible for preparation and submission of payment applications.

* Approval of sub-contractor applications and supplier invoices

* Price and manage variations ensuring written approval is obtained before commencement. Negotiate and agree variations with sub-contractors.

* Provide support to Finance team for financial dispute resolution and overdue accounts

* Conflict resolution: Ability to manage difficult situations and balance the needs of the business and the customer
