As the Manager of Software Development, you will have the great opportunity to lead and supervise an in-house software project and team. We are looking for a leader with strong people management and leadership qualities to help our team achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management and communication skills and be capable of deputizing for the CTO while demonstrating technical leadership.
While expertise in C#, .NET, and source control is advantageous, experience in AI is not mandatory.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership and Agile Practices:
- Develop the underlying architecture for all software products and development.
- Manage and oversee multiple software projects to ensure they meet key milestones on time and align with organizational goals.
- Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas.
- Design and conduct tests and implement systems for software automation, continuous integration, and deployment.
- Demonstrate programming ability using C# and .NET and a willingness to learn additional languages and frameworks as needed.
- Stay updated by researching new technologies and participating in educational opportunities.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with legal, security, and regulatory requirements.
Team Development:
- Line manage a team of 6 by appraising, setting personal development plans, and objectives and conducting regular one-on-ones.
- Foster an environment of continuous personal and professional learning.
- Serve as a technical mentor and adviser to the team and across the organization.
- Lead the team in pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology.
Other Duties:
- Deputize for the CTO when required.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and the Head of IT to manage day-to-day operations and contribute to the long-term strategy for the Technology team.
- Guide cross-functional teams through complex projects and organizational changes.
- Prepare documentation and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders in verbal or written/presentation formats.
The offered salary for this position is £85k plus an extensive benefits package. While working from home is acceptable as needed, the expectation is to spend at least a few days a week in the Cambridge office. This role would be appealing to team leaders, as software managers must excel in project management. The current focus is on revamping a legacy solution in C#. Although coding knowledge is crucial, this role primarily emphasizes leadership, delivery, and team and project management
