Packaging Specification Technologist

Type: Permanent

Location: Wednesbury

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 am – 17:00 pm with half-hour lunch break

Company Overview:

We are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing company who are based in Wednesbury, experiencing an exciting phase of growth. We are seeking a detail-oriented Packaging Specifications Technologist to join their dynamic team.

Job Description:

* Manage all packaging design projects efficiently, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders such as sales account managers, commercial management, technical teams, designers, and manufacturers.

* Proofread, approve, and accurately file packaging artwork files, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, barcodes, ingredient descriptions, and artwork specifications.

* Communicate project status updates effectively in weekly project management meetings and New Product Development (NPD) meetings.

* Collaborate with printers and packaging manufacturers to understand print processes, ensuring optimal print outcomes and timely delivery to the company.

* Receive and inspect samples, verifying alignment with design specifications before sign-off.

* Perform visual inspections of physical packaging for print quality and colour accuracy.

* Maintain the company image library on the shared drive and share artwork images internally upon request from Marketing or management.

* Dispatch sample packages as needed.

* Coordinate with Brandbank to update and file images accurately.

* Issue barcodes for new artwork and conduct methodical barcode checks to ensure scanning accuracy.

* Perform barcode checks on items received for the first time.

Requirements:

* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a food business.

* Proficiency in packaging processes, including interaction with design houses, artwork management, and barcoding.

* Ability to thrive under pressure and prioritize tasks methodically and conscientiously.

* Proficient in using systems such as SAP, Access, and Excel.

* Excellent written communication skills, particularly in email correspondence.

* Note: Additional administrative tasks may be assigned by management as needed.
