NDT Team Lead
3 months ago
Are you an experienced NDT Technician with a passion for ensuring excellence in NDT activities? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become the NDT Team Lead of a small team at my client's facility in Derby.
My client is a supplier of a comprehensive range of repair, overhaul, consultancy, testing and training services to the rail rolling stock industry. As specialists in the sector, and with a track record of expertise which extends back to 1994, they have become a trusted supplier to many of the rail industry's largest and well-known names.
As the NDT Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with industry standards and driving quality assurance in all NDT operations.
You will be responsible for assisting with the specification, documentation, and verification of NDT requirements for my client and their customers. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that all NDT activities within the business align with industry requirements, particularly BS EN 15085.
You will provide quality oversight of 6 welders who are NDT certified (at the facility and occasionally at customer sites). The NDT Team Lead would oversee but not directly manage these individuals. He would complete surveillances and reviews on them and assess their capabilities against requirements. A new post of NDT Technician is to be created who would report directly to you.
My client really does treat people as individuals and are keen to provide avenues of progression, including to Level 3 for this position. This is probably what makes this company a strongly growing business - they may need to expand the NDT team in the near future.
Job requirements:
* PCN Level 2 certification in UT, MT and PT (welds). CSWIP or VT is desirable.
* Demonstrable leadership skills and professional attitude.
* Comfortable advocating and problem-solving when needed.
* A critical thinker with a positive attitude.
* Dedicated to continuous improvement and attention to detail.
Job responsibilities:
* Mentor a small team of NDT certified welders in the performance of their tasks. The primary one being to carry out NDT of welds (post fabrication and repair) in a rail maintenance facility.
* Manage the activities of all NDT operations, including the supervision and management of an NDT technician.
* Be the technical expert in NDT. Training will be provided as progression and to support in achieving professional goals, including achieving Level 3.
* Update all systems and databases with careful attention to detail.
* Produce quality documents e.g., technique sheets, SOPs, and templates.
* Ensure compliance with standards.
* Serve as a liaison between the team and other management.
* Ensure calibration of all NDT equipment is up-to-date.
* Review, approve and release NDT reports to customers.
Job benefits:
* 33 days holiday (inc bank holidays)
* Private medical and dental insurance
* Company pension
* Relocation assistance
* Company events
* Cycle to work scheme
* Free or subsidised travel
* Gym membership
* Health & wellbeing programme
* Free on-site parking
* Referral programme
* Employee discount in selected stores
