Divisional Director of Nursing for Cancer Services

Finegreen are currently supporting a large acute NHS Trust in the South East in the appointment of a Divisional Director of Nursing for Cancer Services.
Reporting to the Chief of Service, the post holder will be accountable for the review of the nursing and associated AHP and support workforce across the division and ensuring safe staffing levels across relevant sites and services. Provide specialist senior level oversight of Cancer Services and pathways related.
Key responsibilities will include:
Be a visible and credible leader, provide professional and strategic leadership to the nurses, midwives and AHPs within their division to ensure they are appropriately supervised and managed and are delivering high quality care in efficient and effective ways and in line with NMC and HCPC codes of practise and competencies;
Lead on developing the division’s objectives in relation to patient outcomes, including the development and maintenance of care standards for all patients;
Lead on the divisional implementation of national and local quality drivers arising from national enquiries (e.g. Frances, Keogh, and Berwick);
Provide management responsibility, leadership and expert advice to divisional Heads of Nursing, Matrons / Clinical Heads of Service on a variety of clinical issues to ensure clinical, safeguarding and educational standards set by the Trust are implemented and monitored within the division;
With the Chief of Service and Divisional Director of Operations, promote a culture that nurtures and promotes effective multi-professional working to deliver quality outcomes and meet agreed performance KPIs;
Create a culture of openness and transparency where staff are able to raise their concerns and know they will be listened to and where they will be able to get appropriate feedback in a timely manner;
Lead on quality and safety work programmes whilst ensuring that the fundamentals of safe care are delivered within the division;
With the Chief of Service and Divisional Director of Operations support the implementation and ongoing development of PFIS within the Division;
Engage with external partners/ stakeholders, particularly those representing patients, to gain their contribution and commitment to ensure the successful delivery of the service;
The ideal candidate will have:
Registered Nurse/Midwife, 1st Level /1st Level Degree;
Master’s level qualification or evidence of post graduate study;
Considerable experience at senior nurse level in an acute healthcare setting; ideally managing Cancer Services;
Sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management processes;
