Job Purpose:

We seek a dedicated and detail-oriented Benefits Assessment Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will evaluate and determine eligibility for various benefits programs, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies. As a Benefits Assessment Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals and families by assessing their needs and facilitating access to essential benefits. This position requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough assessments to determine individuals' eligibility for various benefits programs, such as health insurance, financial assistance, housing support, and other social services.
Examine and verify supporting documentation submitted by applicants to validate their eligibility claims. Ensure accuracy and completeness of information.
Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing benefits programs. Ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and maintain a comprehensive understanding of program requirements.
Communicate with applicants to gather additional information, clarify details, and provide guidance on the application process. Handle inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.
Maintain accurate and confidential records of applicants, documenting assessment outcomes, decisions, and any supporting information. Utilize databases and software tools effectively.
Work closely with other departments, agencies, and community organizations to coordinate services and streamline the benefits application process.
Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of benefits assessments. Identify areas for improvement in the assessment process and propose solutions.
Generate reports on benefits assessments, including statistical data, trends, and outcomes. Provide regular updates to management on key performance indicators.Qualifications:

Knowledge of Housing Benefits and Council Tax Support legislation and other such Acts, as they relate to the administration of Benefit Services.
Knowledge of Council Tax liability, discounts and exemptions
