The opportunity
Due to successful project expansion, our client is currently seeking an experienced handling and lifting engineer to join their nuclear newbuild team working on the Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and ground breaking SMR technology projects based from Gloucester, working with one of the biggest engineering companies in the UK.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
* Coaching suppliers in the production of commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities.
* Contribute to design reviews to ensure installation and layout of plant items and systems are in a manner that allows ease of commissioning.
* Detailed planning of commissioning and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests.
* Take part in the execution of site commissioning activities, including supervision of contractor commissioning personnel to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems.
* Provide safety leadership in the execution of tests, ensuring that company process and best practice is followed for industrial safety.
* Analyse commissioning results and guide the production of reports summarising the outcome of commissioning.
* Ensure that the commissioning activities from conception, execution and reporting, demonstrate compliance with the functional and performance requirements for the equipment.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
* Technical background in lifting and handling equipment.
* Knowledge of legislation for lifting equipment (e.g. LOLER).
* Hands-on experience on lifting and handling equipment.
* Conformity assessment for lifting equipment and working with Third Parties.
* Experience in the design, commissioning, maintenance & operations of fuel route & nuclear safety-classified cranes.
* Experience leading technical teams.
* Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
* Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
