SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunity in a Partnered Secondary School in Hackney

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We have an exciting full-time opportunity starting in September for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic SEN provision within a mainstream secondary school in Hackney. This role offers the chance to work closely with small groups of SEN children, specifically those with severe verbal/non-verbal Autism, providing essential support in the classroom.

We are seeking a candidate with a background in either personal or professional experience with SEN, particularly in the realm of severe Autism. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children in a 1:1 setting, and preferably possess knowledge of PECS and/or Phonics. Confidence in assisting the teacher with daily duties is key, making this role perfect for a graduate seeking valuable insight into the education industry or for individuals with previous experience as a teaching assistant.

Candidates with expertise in any SEN area, including moderate to severe Autism and behavior management, are strongly encouraged to apply. Previous experience in SEN, whether personal or professional, is a requirement for this role.

Daily Duties:
- Provide support to small groups of SEN children in the classroom
- Assist with implementing educational strategies tailored to individual needs
- Collaborate with the teacher to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Utilize PECS and Phonics techniques to enhance communication and literacy skills
- Support students with Autism in their daily routines and activities
- Assist with behavior management and intervention strategies
