IT Field Application Engineer

Home Based (able to be based anywhere in the UK from York to Manchester to Birmingham to Oxford)

Our globally renowned and respected client has been established for more than 60 years and specialise in the design, manufacture and support of bespoke instrumentation and special purpose equipment solutions for supply throughout the world. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive IT Field Application Engineer to complement their professional UK IT Service Team supporting a range of automated equipment associated with Clinical and Industrial markets across the whole of the UK.

Based from home (realistically around 70% of the position) and covering the whole of the UK, the IT Field Application Engineer is responsible for the technical installation and support of the company's bespoke Data & IT Solutions and their connection with other systems (either in house or third party). Tasked with consulting with clients on system context, hardware and network configuration topics, you will undertake a range of duties and responsibilities that will include the installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance of all aspects of both hardware and software, managing client and other vendors communication regarding connectivity and liaising with Laboratory Information and Management Systems providers.

You will also work closely with vendor and customer IT personnel to determine requirements, establishing interface and network connections between company solutions and third-party information systems, and provide high level technical support related to the portfolio of solutions. You will answer internal and external customer enquiries in line with established guidelines and document these on the CRM system, and will consult as appropriate with Lab IT Specialists, Application Specialists, System Engineers, Field IT Specialists, the Management Team, Regional IT Project Managers and Global Customer Support.

Able to demonstrate excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills for remote / phone support as well as on-site Laboratory IT support, you will assist with the launch and implementation of new systems by learning new products and providing input to the development of associated documentation and troubleshooting procedures for all systems, and will also provide customer training in order to enable client self-sufficiency as well as participating in training for internal colleagues, and when required, you will also assist in Pre-sales activities to provide technical insight and benefits of the company's IT Solutions.

To be considered for this unique IT Field Application Engineer opportunity within a genuine market leading blue-chip operation, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be Degree qualified or above in a relevant Computer Science or equivalent and be able to demonstrate at least 3 years similar experience gained in supporting information management software, LIS/HIS and middleware interfacing, networking protocols and IT security (with expertise in clinical information system interoperability standards, such as HL7, XML, CLSI, IHE proving distinctly advantageous).

You will demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service and support skills at all levels and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues methodically and effectively, turning complexity into simplicity and prioritizing accordingly. You will possess experience with data analytics and reporting and be solutions oriented and creative problem solver with knowledge of networks, interfaces, hardware and software, database management and interfacing.
