and be ready to support a lively classroom environment where additional guidance is needed to maintain a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide in-class support for the Year 5 teacher, ensuring all students remain engaged with their learning.
Use effective behaviour management techniques to manage and reduce disruptive behaviour in the classroom.
Implement and maintain individual behaviour plans for students where needed, working closely with the class teacher and SENCo.
Promote positive behaviours and encourage emotional and social development.
Build strong relationships with the students, creating a structured and consistent learning environment.
Assist in creating a stimulating, engaging, and safe classroom for all pupils.
Support small group interventions to help students who require additional focus on behaviour or learning.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Proven experience
in a similar role with a strong focus on behaviour management, ideally within a primary school setting.
Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and applying de-escalation techniques when necessary.
A calm, assertive, and patient approach, with a natural ability to relate to young children.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies as needed.
Understanding of safeguarding principles and a commitment to ensuring student wellbeing.
A clean and current DBS on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one.
