My Client is recruiting for a Project Manager in the Water Sector

The Position: Although this position is for a Project Manager which is primarily a post contract position, it can also include a significant pre contract involvement, largely dictated by company workload. It will have a number of wide-ranging responsibilities including:

Pre contract

Specifying equipment requirements for those process designs
Co-ordinating with equipment / system suppliers
Preparation of quotations
Selling to clients
Follow-up, liaison and meetings with clients
Assisting in the bringing to market, sales, support and servicing of an increasing number of water / wastewater treatment products, some of which will include cutting-edge technologies.
Preparation of detailed designs as part of the post-contract team
Site visits as appropriate / Collection of information for quotation preparationPost-Contract

Day to day contact & coordination of all project matters with client & all subcontractors & company staff.
Specifying and purchasing of equipment, progressing its manufacture & delivery, ensuring its quality.
Production of general contract documentation including Equipment Schedules, Data Sheets etc.
Production of Health & Safety documentation including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH assessments, Safety Instructions etc.
Production of Functional Design Specifications based on outline operating process concepts.
Production of cable termination schedules for on-site installation
Supervision of CAD draftsmen for the production of general arrangement (layout) drawings and equipment design drawings.
Providing periodic technical support for a small number of other clients with both water and wastewater treatment plants of various types.
Assisting in the bringing to market, sales, support and servicing of an increasing number of water / wastewater treatment products, some of which will include cutting-edge technologies.Post contract site work includes:

Organising and receiving equipment deliveries.
Site inspections & measurement.
Installation supervision.
Day-to-day liaison with client & contractors.
On-site pre-commissioning electrical checks.
Plant commissioning process / electrical / mechanical, which will require familiarity with plc based control systems. Capability of reading and modifying software ladder logic.
Some general process system chemistry would be an advantage
Production of Method Statements, Risk Assessments and working with Permit systems.
Production of site reports & paperwork, including site instructions & variations.
Providing on-site support and technical expertise.
Providing periodic technical support for a small number of other clients with both water and wastewater treatment plants of various types.
Fault finding & rectification. This is an important aspect of the position.

The Candidate: We are searching for a person who is an experienced project manager but will also consider a project engineer who wants to progress to a broader career in general Project Management. For the right candidate, this position has considerable potential for growth and advancement as the company grows. We are looking for a person who is an experienced project manager who may or may not be a qualified engineer, but ideally has experience of project management in construction, design and practical operating conditions of industrial water systems. Ideally that would include experience with industrial wastewater treatment, chemical bulk handling & distribution, ultrapure water for electronics applications and PW / WFi systems for pharmaceutical clients, therefore including:

Filtration systems
Membrane treatments including reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration
Conventional and electrolytic deionisation systems
De-aeration
Sterilisation (UV, SIP & CIP systems)
Steam Generation
Wastewater treatment systems
Chemical bulk handling

However, this is not essential as in-house training will be provided, some of which will probably be in Germany.

Experience and Qualifications:

Relevant engineering qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Process engineering or similar
Water Sector Experience
Project Management / Project Engineering experience
