Do you want to be part of a team where your voice really matters, and everyone is equal?

Whether you are seeking your first post after completing training or you are an established consultant seeking a new challenge, we have your perfect role. We are a diverse group of Emergency Consultants with many special interests and new colleagues are actively supported to develop or expand their area of specialist interest through personalised, flexible job plans.

Successful applicants will work as part of a group of over 30 ED Consultants on a 24-week whole time equivalent rota to provide senior medical staff on site presence 08:00-00:00 with weekend working one in eight weekends.

The team works equally across 2 sites, with Pinderfields Hospital being our Major Emergency Department and designated Major Trauma Unit. Both Dewsbury and Pinderfields have 24/7 separate dedicated children's EDs.

Please be aware that the Mid Yorkshire Emergency Departments plan to introduce on site night shift working. There is ongoing recruitment to expand consultant numbers to facilitate this. For new consultant starters, there is an expectation that they will be part of a future night shift workforce.

  4. Participating in the development of the Trust's Emergency Medicine service including QIPS, protocols and guidelines.
  5. Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with clinicians both internally and externally.
  6. Providing and delivering educational opportunities at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  7. New consultant positions typically will take part in on-call duties which are currently shared within the team on a 24-week rolling rota with 3:24 weekend working, category A basis currently assessed as 0.9PA.
  8. Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space, secretarial support, and networked computer facilities, are provided.
  9. Supporting Professional Activities with at least a minimum of 1.5 SPA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of the service, such as teaching or departmental leadership roles.
