Role Overview

The newly created role of Software Developer will be expected to operate at the Skills for the Information Age (SFIA) Development and Implementation discipline Level 3, in order to provide additional development resource to the Technology team to support our growing business needs and requirements. We’re looking for a software developer who displays enthusiasm, and whose technical expertise allows them to seamlessly manage projects and prioritise deadlines.

The role will work with a range of technologies covering mostly the modern Microsoft stack of development tools (SQL, Azure, M365, Microsoft Power Suite etc) but will need to be able to look at legacy code, update, improve or rewrite this. This will include (but not limited to):

  • Build client-focused, next-generation web applications.
  • Support full-stack web development by applying agile methodologies for sprint planning, design sessions, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Oversee diverse, cohesive teams for high-quality delivery to clients.
  • Design, develop, test, and enhance software solutions.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, test, and delivery.
  • To support all development requirements across the Technology team and the wider business.
  • Develop web applications using a variety of languages and technologies.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure documentation is maintained.
  • Facilitate design and architecture brainstorms.
  • Collaborate with team members to define and implement solutions.
  • Train and share knowledge with other members of the wider Technology Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, test, and delivery.

You are the right person for the role if you:
  • Relevant technical certifications or qualifications (obtained, or in process of).
  • Demonstrable experience in software development.
  • Experience in developing software with HTML5 and CSS3 web standards.
  • Familiarity with Angular, Polymer, Closure Library, or Backbone.
  • Good understanding of full-stack web, including protocols and web server optimization standards.
  • Good knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C/C++, Python, and SQL.
  • Proficiency at MS suite.
  • Demonstrable examples of automating business processes with development skills.
  • A passion for technology and innovation
  • Excellent time management, troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focussed in pressurised environments
  • Desire to automate and think of the bigger picture when resolving issues
  • Sociable, calm, methodical, tenacious
  • Display a customer service approach
