We have a fantastic opportunity for an Head of Compliance Monitoring to join our Group Compliance team here at Domestic & General. They will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design and delivery of a risk based annual Compliance Monitoring Plan and programme of ongoing Customer Outcomes Testing.

The role holder will work closely with business stakeholders as part of the wider ‘3 lines of defence’ providing compliance assurance against a defined framework and processes, reporting MI into various Committees and Board.

They will develop monitoring processes and controls, conduct regular assessments, and analyse data to identify potential compliance issues.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading a team managing the design and delivery of the risk-based Compliance Monitoring framework, ensuring key compliance risks are evaluated across the business and issues are adequately controlled or escalated in order that the business meets its objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Ensure a culture where good customer outcomes are met and actively identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensuring regulatory risks are managed, reported and escalated as appropriate.
  • Deliver high quality risk-based assurance reviews which identify, and address root causes of issues arising and mitigates emerging Conduct Risk.
  • Manage review assignments to ensure that planned timescales are achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with business areas and key stakeholders to ensure that the review scope and approach is appropriate.
  • Prepare audit reports to the highest standards of clarity and substance ensuring that they meet the needs of all recipients.
  • Collaborate with the business to make recommendations for improvement that will address the root causes of issues identified and balance the regulatory risk and commercial objectives.
  • Providing support to the business in overseeing and closing recommendations within the target dates agreed.
  • Provision of regular reporting to a high standard to appropriate Governance Committees.
  • Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations, across Financial Services, keeping abreast of projected and recent changes, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

Skills and experience required:

  • In depth knowledge of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) practices within the General Insurance sector.
  • Expert knowledge and application of FCA Handbook and Consumer Duty, specifically ICOBS, DISP, SYSC, PROD, SUP, COND, GEN.
  • Strong ethical and Customer values
  • Analytical thinker
  • Strong verbal and written communication of technical matters to varying audiences.
  • Business and Commercial awareness as well having good capabilities of risk management.
  • Proven ability to achieve and sustain a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Capable of creating business alignments
  • Strong collaboration, conflict resolution, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Professional independence as well being able to collaborate with key stakeholders
