As Account Director , you are critical to the delivery of this ambition; working closely with the Senior Associate Direct or , you will be a key interface for our clients and lead planning projects from start to finish, acting as the conduit who brings together our specialists to deliver exceptional work.
Based in our new WPP campus building in the heart of Manchester’s development district, the largest communications operation outside of London and the home for all WPP regional talent across a number of business disciplines, and an amazing place to grow your communications career and to realise your potential in a dynamic and exciting setting.

Getting to l ead the planning and strategy for a range of different brands and products within the respective client .
T o see the direct impact your work and thinking has on a brand whose business is rapidly growing as well as the o pportunity to deliver entrepreneurial thinking around these clients and trial, test and learn .
Good understanding of your clients, media planning systems, processes and working with the team collaboratively .
Built strong, trustworthy client relationships and established yourself as a key day-to-day lead on the account .
Established yourself as key figure of the team, acting as an invaluable support to your S AD/BD & wider team.
Underst ood the intricacies of the c lients’ Commercial framework and how we are re m u n erated across the account s .
Good understanding of your clients’ market and the evolving media landscape - and how to approach briefs and deliver ideal plans to deliver effective results ensuring a balance of brand and performance .
Taking on additional responsibilities spotting opportunities to sell in wider Essence Media c om or WPP services i.e. Creative Systems , Systems Intelligence & other O ut of Scope projects .
Oversee the day-to-day running of the account, ensuring flow and accuracy of work – ensure the campaign management process follows best practice , you are across all communications and establish yourself as the first port of call for clients .
Be a confident and competent communications planner who demonstrates a thorough understanding of our Systems Planning approach , while leading our planning responses from start to finish , ensuring we have a seamless working process with the i mplementational and specialist teams
Grow your understanding of digital, data, and marketing technology - work closely with the Digital Implementation team to ensure growth and innovation is weaved into our planning .
Strong understanding of your client s’ business & KPIs and how we are remunerated across the account
C ontribut e to the commercial targets set for your business group by proactively identifying and pursuing additional services opportunities on your clients .
Contribute to the monthly billing processes and monthly laydowns are up-to-date and accurate to e nsure your account s are in perfect financial health.
Dev elop strong internal relationships with Planners outside of your team, as well as implementation an d measurement specialist across the business as well supporting your Senior AD in the development of your team.
Strong management and client relationship skills
People management skills to support AD in the management and development of Planners and Execs
A thirst to learn – be that the client’s business, people, brands, industry, trends etc
