An exciting opportunity has arisen at Cambridge University Hospitals, of Clinical Nurse Specialist for Apheresis. We are a regional service that provides services for patients requiring blood and marrow transplant and cellular therapy for a range of haematological conditions. Our Apheresis team delivers a range of life saving and life-enhancing treatments including Plasma Exchange, Red Cell Exchange, Stem Cell Harvest and CAR-T Cell Harvest to adults and children. We are committed to working with patients and their families throughout their treatment pathway

We are looking for a passionate and driven registered nurse with advanced leadership skills, to develop the service further. You will have advanced knowledge and skills in the field of apheresis and cellular therapy treatments, you will be required to use professional and clinical leadership skills to co-ordinate and supervise the patients pathway. You will play a pivotal role in the training, support and education of colleagues, the co-ordination and scheduling of procedures and act as a link with other members of the multi-disciplinary team involved in the patient's clinical pathway.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students.

Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care encompassing new treatments and evidence based care.

Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist area.

Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to referring teams, patients and families. Liaising with referring teams (internal & external to Addenbrooke's) regarding the patients' progress. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for apheresis staff and other staff involved in the patients' journey.

Responsible for all administrative and technical aspects of procedures performed by the apheresis unit.

Required to lead clinical audits, ensure compliance with standards established by the HTA and JACIE.
