Polmyer Materials Analytical Suite Manager

pplications are invited for a Polymer Materials Analytical Suite Manager, with oversight of the highly specialised polymer analytical equipment and working in the research team of Professor Charlotte Williams (Home – Charlotte Williams Research (ox.ac.uk)). We seek an expert in polymer materials characterization with an interest in facilitating and furthering the group’s research. The successful candidate needs to be interested to conduct polymer characterization research and be motivated to work creatively with the group to solve research problems. The successful candidate will also support all aspects of equipment operation, maintenance and development of the relevant health and safety protocols. The manager will also need to provide training and support for all users of the polymer characterization instrumentation, usually PhD students and postdoctoral research scientists. The candidate will work with Prof Williams to support financing to maintain the instruments and procure new equipment.

For this role, you will need to hold a PhD, or have equivalent industrial experience, in Chemistry or Materials with expertise in polymer characterization methods. You will need to have experience of the use, maintenance and upgrading of polymer characterization equipment. We particularly encourage applicants with commercial or industrial experience of managing laboratories and/or equivalent equipment.

This is a full-time post for 18 months, in the first instance, although part-time hours would be considered. The post is based in the Department of Chemistry, University of Oxford, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA.
