The CAMHS Children in Care Team sits within the newly developed Addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences Pathway. We are a dedicated county-wide team with a knowledge and specialism in working with children and young people who are in the Care of Local Authority(s). This could be in foster care, childrens homes, or in placements with parents.
We are excited to be advertising for Band 6 Senior Mental Health Practitioners with a range of skills and experience, as well as a keen interest in working with children and young people in Care.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner in Children & Family Health Devon, your role is crucial in providing comprehensive and specialised mental health support to children and young people in Care.
You will conduct thorough mental health assessments, using a child focused, trauma-informed approach to understand the unique needs of each child. With this understanding, and together with the Team and your supervisor where appropriate, you will develop tailored care plans and implement evidence-based interventions to address their mental health concerns and promote their overall well-being.
As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner, collaboration will be a key aspect of your role. You will provide consultation, advice, and training to colleagues, families, and partner agencies, fostering a collaborative approach to mental health care. Your contributions to multidisciplinary teams will ensure coordinated and integrated care for children and young people. You will support service development and improvement, participating in team meetings, engaging in development opportunities, and staying up to date with the latest research and best practices in child and adolescent mental health and the mental health needs of children and young people in Care. By maintaining accurate and confidential records, adhering to safeguarding protocols, and prioritising the well-being of children and young people, you will make a significant impact in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of mental health services in CFHD
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.
CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to consultation with our service users and communities.
CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.
Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.

Addressing adverse childhood experiences pathway Children in Care
The Children in Care service is a county-wide pathway with locality hubs within it. Currently we are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to be based in Torbay, South & West but with some travelling across the county when needed.
The appointed Senior Mental Health Practitioner will work within a trauma-informed multi-disciplinary team, providing assessments and therapy to children with significant, complex and enduring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety-based or trauma-related difficulties. This will also include working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people.
You will be offered regular line management supervision from your line manager and monthly clinical supervision from one the senior clinicians in the team.
A significant part of our role in the CIC Team is offering consultation, advice and support to other CAMHS Colleagues, Local Authority Social Care Teams, Foster carers and others who may be involved in the child or young persons care
Psychological profession, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or equivalent.
Professional registration/accreditation with a recognised body, e.g. NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, UKCP, BABCP

Recognised qualification in evidenced-based therapeutic, mental health interventions for children/young people and their families/carers
Post graduate qualification relevant to specialism Clinical Supervision qualification

Substantial experience of managing an extensive and complex caseload and working with children/young people presenting with a range of complex mental health presentations.
Experience of delivering model based psychological therapy

Computer literacy.
