Job Description ROLE- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer


TERM- Permanent


They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Surrey on a permanent basis.


The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
At least 5 years’ experience in a similar Design Engineering position
Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
Ideally be experienced managing and leading teams of Design Engineers
of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, fabrication, welded parts and machining
proficient using 3D CAD software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo etc.
of a variety of materials – sheet metal, injection moulded plastics etc.
theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
Proficient using MS Office
Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team


The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
Leading a team of 4-6 Design Engineers
Using CAD (mainly Inventor) for concept design and producing technical drawings
Design for welded and fabricated sheet metal parts
Creating component and assembly models to satisfy customer requirements
Being involved in final assembly of products
Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
Updating 3D models and drawings
Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
