Role overview

In 2021, Intrasonics was acquired by their long-term partner Ipsos, the third-largest market research company in the world. Together, we have developed our proprietary passive measurement solution, and are investing in new products to support market research in innovative new ways. As a Software Developer at Intrasonics, you will develop applications, tools and platforms to support the collection and processing of data to o provide market research insights.

Headquartered in Cambridge, you'll be working in a collaborative environment with an exceptional R&D team who are constantly refining our technologies and products as well as creating new ones.

Intrasonics is looking for an excellent Software Developer with a keen interest and understanding of cloud architecture and a broad range of technical skills.The successful candidate thrives on getting involved in projects across multiple platforms and application areas and takes pride in producing great work and seeing it through to completion. You will have the chance to work on established projects, kickstart new ones, and make a case for new technologies and ideas.

What will I be doing?

  • Contributing to the company's software strategy and architectures.
  • Developing and maintaining applications, tools, and services.
  • Testing and debugging data collection and processing platforms to ensure they meet performance, stability, and security standards.
  • Manage application and database deployments and infrastructure.
  • Communicate with customers to establish requirements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop and deliver data platforms and applications that meet client requirements.
  • Participating in code and design reviews to ensure best practices and maintain high-quality code standards.
  • Continuously researching and learning new technologies and techniques to stay up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Participating in brainstorming sessions to come up with innovative ideas and solutions.

Ipsos UK offers a hybrid working environment, 3 days in the office and working the rest from home.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • A good technical degree or relevant equivalent.
  • An enthusiastic attitude with a 'gets things done' mentality.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, including diagnosing issues within complex systems.
  • The willingness to rapidly pick up new technologies.
  • The ability to adapt schedules against changing priorities.
  • Solid experience designing and creating APIs.

Essential Skills

  • Professional experience developing RESTful web services, JSON and/or XML
  • Professional experience working wih backend technologies (e.g. Node.js, Python)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, Java, C#, Javascript)
  • Proficiency with automated testing
  • Proficiency working with databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, or MongoDB)
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git, or SVN)
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • An ability to produce clear, informative supporting documentation.

Desirable Skills

  • Comfortable with Unix core command line tools such as "find", "grep", "awk", ...
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience of cloud-based services (AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Experience of user interface and experience design.
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of serverless computing architectures
  • Knowledge of CI/CD workflows.
  • Knowledge of issue/project tracking software, e.g. Jira
  • Knowledge of container and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, LXC)
  • Other technologies associated with multi-tier architectures, and distributed computing. E.g. Redis, RabbitMQ, Prometheus, Apache Kafka, ELK, load balancers, ...
