We have an exciting opportunity for a driven Senior .NET Developer with expertise in Azure services, cloud infrastructure, and Elasticsearch to join our dynamic team at Thomas Cook. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining our software solutions with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and security. This position is a fixed term contract (6 months) , but there is a possibility for this role to transition into a permanent position.

 

Job purpose  

Thomas Cook Tourism is a Digital Only Online Travel Agent focused on selling Dynamic Packages, Hotel Only and Ancillary product through the B2C platform ( We are a multi-disciplinary team of experts across Architecture, Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile Delivery providing services across the UK and Europe.

 

Key accountabilities  

  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications 
  • Develop and maintain .NET applications, ensuring high performance and scalability 
  • Utilise Azure services and solutions to build and manage cloud-based applications (SQL DB, App Services, Azure FrontDoor, SignalR) 
  • Implement efficient data ingestion and indexing pipelines for Elasticsearch. 
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# code 
  • Make required infrastructural changes for successful application deployment. 
  • Responsible for building the necessary endpoints, creating secure authentication and authorization protocols, and creating reusable components. 

 

Skills, knowledge, and experience  

  • Proven experience, 3-5+ years , as a Senior .NET Developer with a strong portfolio of .NET-based projects.
  • Proficient in C#, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems 
  • Familiar with various design and architectural patterns 
  • Knack for writing clean, readable C# code 
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application 
  • Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests 
  • In-depth proficiency level of C# and .Net technologies, implementing applications using defensive programming
  • Experience with SignalR 
  • Excellent knowledge of Elasticsearch 
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and methodologies (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps). 
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform. 
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills to identify and resolve software defects 
  • A hands-on experience with application deployment patterns and tools 
  • Great inbound and outbound communication skills 
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken 
  • Can-Do approach and innovative by nature
