Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Scientific Operations Manager to manage and optimise the scientific functions of our growing startup. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background coupled with extensive experience in management of world-class molecular biologists and scientists. They will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of day-to-day operations, managing projects to tight deadlines, problem-solving, driving efficiency, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Our client is a dynamic biotech startup located in London, dedicated to pioneering advancements in cell reprogramming techniques for the development of revolutionary therapies and treatments. Scientific Operations Manager

Salary: £DoE + Excellent Benefits package (including improved pension and equity)

Location: London

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Oversight:
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to streamline processes and maximize productivity.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including managing scientists, supply chain, and resource allocation.
  • Implement best practices and SOPs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry protocols.
  • Work with the team on grant and funding submissions.
  1. Project Management:
  • Coordinate with research and development teams to align operational activities with project milestones and objectives.
  • Track project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  1. Team Management:
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of scientists and molecular biologists, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development initiatives for team members.
  • Encourage a positive work environment that values innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • A MSc or PhD in a scientific discipline, preferably in molecular biology, cell biology, Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in operations management within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of successfully leading complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Proficiency in implementing quality management systems and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
