Behind the scenes, the House of Commons Service is made up of more than 3,000 employees who support and facilitate the smooth day to day running of the House. They provide professional services to Membersof Parliament,their staff, and the wider parliamentary community.

Introduction

The CBIP Programme is a significant multi-year programme of works to renew the northern region of the Parliamentary Estate (buildings occupied by various House of Commons staff and employees of Parliament UK). The buildings in the programme do not include the historic Palace of Westminster.

The Role

The Commons Building Infrastructure Portfolio (CBIP) is seeking to recruit an external member for the CBIP Executive Sponsor Board.

CBIP is a high-profile Programme that will undergo thorough political and public scrutiny as the work progresses.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in overseeing major construction programmes, including at the development phase.
  • Experience at board level in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity.
  • Significant experience in overseeing major construction programmes, including at the development phase.
  • Political acumen, the ability to navigate relationships and quickly grasp the environment and dynamics in which Parliament operates, including its interaction with Government.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills; the ability to listen effectively and challenge constructively, supporting collective decisions and balancing challenge with assurance and support.
