The Specialist Business division of Murphy is growing, and we are seeking the right calibre of commercial resource to support this.

Reporting into the Commercial Lead for the Project, the right individual will be looking to take on their own work packages initially, with a medium-term goal to develop and diversify their own portfolio and take on further contract management opportunities, working closely alongside their operational counterparts.

Cultural fit and demonstrating the right ethos are key, with the support network already in place there is every opportunity to grow and develop within this business.

This includes building, ground engineering, electrical services, utility connections, design and engineering, alongside the specialisms of the wider business.

The business unit provides ideal opportunities for those wishing to take on more responsibility and operate at a business level rather than simply one project; as a commercial team we are delivery focussed, whilst maintaining the Murphy family feel.

Drafting and input on contract and subcontract negotiations,
• Procurement and management of subcontractors and agreement of final accounts
• Ensuring awareness off and compliance with our key risk parameters
• Preparation and presentation of monthly project cost value reconciliation, ensuring your awareness and compliance with revenue recognition rules.
• Define and implement a commercial strategy for each project.
• Input into growing your own high performing team, highlighting your resourcing needs to line and project management.
• Mentor and oversee the progression of junior team members (not just commercial)
• Input into apprentice and graduate recruitment annually

Several years of sustained experience in construction, building, design and engineering projects
• Commercially astute with substantial proven experience within a commercial role in the Construction Industry
• Good knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Degree or equivalent to support a commercial background.
• Full driving licence
