This is a unique opportunity to be part of Bracknell Forest’s multi-agency approach to ensuring the needs of children and young people are met.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Play Therapist within our Permanency Team which provides multi-disciplinary support to social work teams. You will provide direct interventions to children and their families, and provide training and support to practitioners within the department.
Favouring a relational approach in all that we do, the Permanency team extend the family safeguarding model with a specific focus on adolescents and young people with complex needs. We seek to support young people to remain with their families and stay connected with their community, building their resilience and supporting those around them. Everything we do in Childrens Social Care is about improving the life chances of Bracknell’s children, put simply, we change lives for the better.

The Permanency Team is a small, dedicated team providing essential support to ensure we provide the best support to our vulnerable children and young people.
You will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training…
Direct interventions with children and young people, including Children Looked After and Care Leavers.
Direct interventions with parents and carers to help them better understand their own needs and the needs of their young people.
Support the professional network around children and young people to better understand and respond to their needs.
Provide training and consultations to professionals and foster carers.
Support Group work with parents and young people.
An inclusive and social working environment with a variety of staff networks.

This is a varied and rewarding role which requires an individual to be committed to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people. You need to have excellent communication skills and be creative when engaging individuals and families.
You need to be organised, flexible, be IT literate and able to work as part of a team.
