At Babcock we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Deputy Energy Manager at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site.
The role
As a Deputy Energy Manager, you’ll assist with the development and deployment of energy, metering and carbon strategies in the pursuance of zero harm to the environment. Day-to-day, you’ll interface with roles throughout the dockyard and support the sites Energy Manager to deliver the organisations compliance obligation.
- Assist the Energy Manager in developing and delivering the sitewide energy and metering strategies
- Deputising for the Energy Manager in relation to the UK ETS report writing and purchasing of UK ETS allowances
- Leading on Babcock International Group utility reporting, aligned with corporate reporting (streamlined carbon and energy reporting and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) reporting)
- Maintenance and management of the site wide building energy management systems and liaison with associated contractors
- Assisting with the carbon forecasting and baselining for the Devonport Site
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Deputy Energy Manager
- The candidate should have a extensive relevant operational experience in an energy or utility industry, and ideally have a working knowledge of Dockyard operations, the Royal Navy or similar experience.
- A proven history of management of change is advantageous as it forms a large element of the role.
- Those applying should have a demonstrable passion for net zero and utility management
Qualifications for the Deputy Energy Manager
- As a minimum the candidate will require a Level 3 qualification in energy or environment management.
- Qualifications in energy auditing and/or a trained electrician - Desirable
- Ambition to achieve Full Membership of Energy Institute and Chartered Energy Manager Status
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
