We have an exciting new role for a Senior Physiotherapist to develop & deliver physiotherapy services across our inpatient mental health wards. Mental health experience would be beneficial but not essential as skills will be transferable from previous roles & training will be provided. Parklands Hospital is in Basingstoke and is home to inpatient Older Persons & Adult Mental Health Services with an AHP team working across the site.

Our AHP led team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Creative Therapists, technical instructors, therapy assistants, exercise & mobility instructors, & are supported by our AHP Therapy Manager & AHP Service Manager. This helps to provide an outstanding service to our populations & support those requiring admission to our inpatient services to return to being an active member of their local community.

You will be responsible for developing physiotherapy services alongside the AHP Therapy Manager, realising the art of the possible for physiotherapy within mental health services. You will work closely with the mutli-disciplinary therapy team to deliver integrated AHP services to our inpatients & work collaboratively on patient focused discharge planning. This is an excellent opportunity to showcase the benefits that physiotherapy can have for our older persons & adult mental health services.

Main duties of the job

*To provide specialist Physiotherapy skills to the inpatient mental health therapy team.

*To assess and treat own caseload, which may include complex presentations and to maintain own records as an autonomous practitioner.

*To assist senior staff in the education and supervision of junior colleagues, assistants and students. To include educating the MDT on the role of Physiotherapy in Mental Health.

*To assist senior staff in daily management of the team and provision of therapy service, deputising for the team leader in their absence.

*To assist senior staff in development and maintenance of an efficient and effective service

*To contribute to the inter-disciplinary working within the inpatient mental health therapy team and Locality by teaching, learning & practicing inter-disciplinary skills & techniques as defined by an agreed competency framework or training scheme.
