Our working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. The service provides inpatient cover to Aintree Hospital. We have nurse led outpatient clinics for COPD, Asthma, Bronchiectasis and Oxygen. We work closely with medical and therapy teams both in hospital, and in primary care. We have close links with the Community Respiratory Team, ILD team, and other local Oxygen teams too.Evidence of post registration training and a willingness to learn and develop clinical skills is essential. You will need excellent communication skills and will be expected to provide education and advice to patients, carers and health care professionals. A driving license and access to a car is also essential.
Work as part of a team of RNS, to provide ward cover to the hospital: assessing inpatients diagnosed with a variety of respiratory conditions and advising & implementing management plans for these patients.
Run nurse led outpatient clinics - supported by B7 colleagues.
Be involved in service development projects.

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.


The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.


The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.


In its most recent inspection, the Care Quality Commission gave the Trust an overall rating of Good.
To perform comprehensive assessment of a patients needs (including clinical examination, and sampling arterial blood gases) then plan, implement and evaluate care delivery accordingly.
Liaise effectively with community matrons, GPs and other teams to enhance the respiratory patients care pathway.
Supported by a band 7, have patients in nurse led clinics in Asthma, COPD, Bronchiectasis and Oxygen providing expert advice, education and support to patients, their families and/or carers regarding their ongoing care and condition.

Care for patients from diagnosis through to end stage disease. Promote better health expectations for patients with respiratory disease and encourage strategies for healthier lifestyles- using the every contact counts approach.

Involve patients and carers/relatives in the planning and delivery of care and development of services.
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and carers/relatives, and professionals across health and social services.

Contributes to the provision of specialist protocols and policies as required.

Monitor health, safety and security of self and others and promote best practice in Aintree Chest Centre.

Ensure own compliance and compliance of others with regard to mandatory training requirements.

Participate in research & clinical audit , in order to improve effectiveness of patient care and service delivery.


Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines relevant to own area of work.
Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights.

Maintain active status on NMC register
Act always in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct and guiding documents
Adhere to Trust Policy and Procedure.
The successful candidate must have an active driving license - due to the home visits, and cross site cover.
