Occupational Health Technician

Orbital Recruitment are currently looking for a Health and Safety Technician for our client based in Rugby, Warwickshire.
An excellent opportunity to develop your career in health and safety, gaining experience in a manufacturing / heavy engineering environment, while being supported to advance your professional competence.
In this “hands on role”, you will work alongside an experienced Health and Safety Manager, integral to the Operations and Health and Safety support function. You will help promote leading health, safety and wellbeing standards in accordance with legislation, client requirements and industry good practice, with the aim of minimising the potential for injury, while developing your personal and professional skills as part of a structured learning programme.
For this position, the right attitude and communication skills are more important than formal health and safety qualifications, as necessary training and support comes with the role; If you are detail-orientated, passionate about safety and wellbeing, and enjoy a mix of fieldwork and analysis, this role might be a great fit for you.
Regular site tours, interacting and coaching teams to promote health and safety, understanding day to day challenges, offering advice, identifying improvement opportunities, and providing feedback.
* Supporting the roll out and evaluating the effectiveness of health and safety programmes and initiatives.
* Identifying and selecting appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and health and safety related equipment for different job tasks.
Collaborating with management, employees, contractors and playing an active role in Health and Safety Committees and other working groups.
* Preparing guidance and promotional health, safety and wellbeing campaigns and materials.
Training
* Delivering face-to-face briefings and training.
Compliance Monitoring
* Scheduling and carrying out a range of audits and inspections to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and health and safety standards.
* Participating in investigation teams to support operations reviewing incidents, helping identify appropriate remedial actions and sharing learning opportunities.
* Data Collection and Analysis
* Analysing and presenting health and safety information and trends.
Recommending improvements based on data insights.
Full UK driving licence essential
* Maths and English GCSE
* Knowledge of Word and Excel programmes
* Hours & Contract Type:
